Welcome to the partyGPS blog, the site that will help you locate bars, clubs, and liquor stores across the U.S. Also, to assist you and your friends in making quicker, and more educated decisions on where to go out for the night through wonderful google maps and user reviews. We would love it if you helped us build a large, accurate database with as many bars, clubs, and liquor stores as possible, starting with the major U.S cities we have setup.
Although the website is fairly new, we are confident that everything will work correctly (although it will take some time to build up the database). We didn’t want partyGPS to be another new website in “beta”, especially since it seems like that is the cool thing to do these days. If there are any problems, we will work on fixing them asap.
When thinking about the general layout and purpose of the site, we decided not to try and make partyGPS the next big online social network. We think facebook’s event planner already helps people coordinate their nightlife with their friends quite well (facebook is open to anyone, not just college students anymore). There is no reason for people to need to sign up for another social networking site to do just that. Check out the Help section to see how you can link to a specific location’s page on partyGPS through a facebook event you have created.
partyGPS is focused on providing our users with only the info needed to help them party without the hassle. That is why we won’t ask you to register to simply navigate the site or write a review, and you won’t see tons of other distractions on the site. We do not think that there is anything on the web right now like this that serves this purpose, so whether you are a lost alcoholic visiting a new city or have an unofficial title of full-time party coordinator, we hope this site can help.
We decided to include a user forum to give our users a place to further talk, get to know each other, and promote and talk about local events and parties. Registration is required to participate in the forum (but not too browse), but it is quick and easy.
